Quick answer: if the domain you ordered hosting for is already in use on another hosting account, we first confirm that you own it. Add the DNS TXT record shown on your dashboard, wait a few minutes, then press Check DNS Record. Once it matches, our team finishes your hosting setup.
Why we ask for this
One website domain can only be hosted in one account. When a domain is already hosted elsewhere on our servers, we must be sure the new order really comes from the domain's owner. Only the owner can change the domain's DNS, so a TXT record is a safe and simple proof. Your order and payment are kept while you verify.
The record to add
Your dashboard shows a yellow notice with three values:
- Type: TXT
- Name / Host:
_cloudzex-verify.yourdomain.com(some DNS panels only need_cloudzex-verifyand add the domain themselves) - Value: the 24-character code shown in the notice (each service has its own code)
Where to add it
Add the record where your domain's DNS is managed:
- Cloudflare: your domain → DNS → Records → Add record → Type TXT.
- Your domain registrar (where you bought the domain): open the DNS or "Advanced DNS" page and add a TXT record.
- Domain bought from CloudZex: open the domain under My domains and use the DNS tab where it is shown, or ask us in chat and we add it for you.
Keep your other records (A, CNAME, MX) as they are. The TXT record does not affect your website or email.
Check the record
- Wait 5 to 10 minutes after saving the record (DNS changes can take a little time, sometimes up to an hour).
- Go to your dashboard and press Check DNS Record.
- If it matches you will see "Domain ownership verified", and our team is notified to finish the setup.
- If it does not match yet, check the name and value for typos and try again a little later. You can check up to 5 times every 10 minutes.
After verification you may delete the TXT record.
